Welcome

I am here to share my journey of learning with you.
A journey, filled with inquiries, wonderings, tensions and celebrations.
That's what learning is all about.

Weekly Homework Assignments

Each week's tasks will be added on to each subject. That way you can at glance, see previous work given, in addition to the current one. Absent students can easily catch up with work missed.

Language Arts: Students will be receiving a weekly word list which will be coming home every Monday, together with their Word Book. These have to be returned back to school on Thursday.
Please help your child learn to read and write these words. Every Friday we will have a mini test assessing their spelling skills.

19th to 23rd April:  Word List:    I    me    like  and   come   we        Challenge: this  with

Help Tips:

  • Create a word wall and continue to post new words that your child is learning.
  • Write sentences using each word.
  • Draw pictures and write a story.

Inquiries:
12th to 16th April:
In the newsletter we asked for artifacts that represent your country or places you have visited. Sadly, very few students have brought these things in. It would help a lot in their research and investigations of the countries they are studying if they had hands on experiences looking at, feeling and talking about the different artifacts from across the world. Please help, and provide whatever you can to make this a successful learning experience.
19th to 23rd April:
Research and collect information on Zambia and another country
The students have been grouped according to their country choice. They are all studying Zambia, our host country and were asked to select one more.
Kindly assist your child in gathering information about the two countries. Remember, they will be presenting their knowledge at the "Country Expo", which you will be invited to.

12th to 16th April:
Math Home Connections 15: Ten and More Bingo
This is game to reinforce counting and observe how we can count in different ways. Enjoy playing Bingo with your child. Play it several times a week and observe how your child counts. Encourage him/her to use different counting strategies and explain to you how they did it.

19th to 23 rd April:
Home Connection 20: Munch Munch, What a Lunch!
This activity gets your child to solve addition and subtraction problems. I am sending you some additional pages, which I know some children will enjoy doing. The aim is for them to understand and use appropriate math vocabulary and recognize the symbols adding and subtracting.
Using different objects and having the child create their own story problems, brings about excitement and joy.
