Let's Go!
Central Idea: The journeys we take help us learn about the worldLines of Inquiry:
- journeys we take
- places around the world
- what we learn by visiting new places
Wow, who would have thought that Kindergarten students would be so engaged with maps, globes and our world. The sharing of travels, findings and wonderings has been overwhelming. Student questions have continued to develop. Their reflective skills are displayed in their discussions, wonderings and findings. What a joy to have Stella, Mary, Gift, Nkweto, Hampus and Alva bring in stuff from their countries and also facts about Zambia.
As part of their summative assessment, students have been asked to research on Zambia and another country of their choice. We all need to develop a better understanding, appreciation and knowledge of our host country and this is a perfect opportunity.
Listed below are the country groupings. It would be great if you could offer support in terms of finding information and other resources your child could share in their groups. The grand finale will be an invitation for you to come to their "Country Expo" celebration.

This is What Christina has learned about Zambia so far.
see our collaborative "Y chart".
Zambia looks like, feels like and sounds like......
Mark and Mahdi searching for countries in Africa
Aaron and Oliver engrossed in the African Map.
Can you imagine trying to match and locate the different
countries in Africa. Then, you still have to label them on your map.
"Should I look at the camera?" asks Oenone.
"No, where is that country starting with the c sound?"
says Taiina. That's what collaborative learning is all about.
Nkweto and Mary searching really hard.
Look at their concentration!
" Gee so many countries..... it's challenging but I love it"!
